There is a trap in the contemporary church and culture; this trap is the lie that “the gospel is not enough”
So we try to add to the gospel with marketing, programs, fun, cool, cutting edge, etc.
Here is the good news of the gospel that we need to declare plainly, consistently and with great zeal and compassion:
- You and I are loved deeply and dearly by the God of the universe
- He created us in love and yearns to be in a forever love relationship with us
- Although you and I have made so many big mistakes God has made a way to pay for our mistakes and give us a new life!
- Sin is real and ugly and brings dire consequences
- There is nothing stronger than our God, so He can set us free from whatever it is that has kept us bound
- There is not a day that goes by that God is not talking to you and working on your behalf
- God has made it possible for you to be able to live a new life of peace, freedom and fulfillment
- No matter what the world or the devil throws at you God is able to protect and defend you
- If you are being crushed under the heaviest load of discouragement and despair, God is willing, ready and able to rescue you
And I can go on and on. (And I will until I take my last breath here on this earth)
So pastor, friend, please don’t fall into the trap of the devil and don’t believe his lies.
The gospel is enough and you and I can, should and must declare it every day and in every way we possibly can!
